The other night I got up and peeked on my youngest son. He was fast asleep and beside him, his Bible. My heart was so happy. For on his own free choice, he had decided to read his Bible. The next day he told me that he had been reading Genesis, particularly about Cain and Abel. He told me that he read until his flashlight stopped working. His wanting to read God’s word filled my heart with joy. Not too long ago, my oldest son had a friend who reached out to him regarding some Biblical questions. In which my son reached back helping the best that he could. This brought me joy that when his friend had a faith question, he wanted to go to my son. My heart was even more happy, that my son took the time to give a sound response. My children have done a lot of wonderful things that I’m proud of. However, watching them grow in their faith and have a love for God, is what brings my heart the most joy. Friend, I’m sure like me, you take great pride in the wonderful things your children do. Though as we cheer and encourage our children, may we especially encourage their faith. For through all the accomplishments they make in life, their greatest will be how they walked with the Lord.
