My youngest son had a very big, important question regarding the Bible. Now I’ll admit I too am learning the Bible better in my walk with God. Honestly, we should always be learning His word better. Although this question, I admitted to my son, I’m still working on the answer. My husband told our son what he believed the answer was. Ultimately, we told him that the best source for his answer, was in the Bible itself. That if he was unsure about something to not just listen to what we say, but to find his answer in the Bible. Although my husband and I will continue to read Gods word, guide, answer questions and support our children in their faith, we want them to know how to go to the Bible themselves too. For as they become men especially, they will find when it comes to the Bible, sometimes people will create their own ideas about God’s word. We want them to know that if something doesn’t seem right or that if they have questions or need verification, we want them to know how to read His word for themselves too. For the world can both intentionally and unintentionally misguide or misrepresent His word. We should all be reading His word and learning it better; both for ourselves and to help others too, especially our children. We should also be teaching our children how to find their answers in the Bible too on their own, so they will always know how to go to the source of truth. Friend, may we always read His truth and find our answers in His word. May we also remember to teach our children as they grow, to find their answers in His word and how to do so. I think we’ll be having a Bible study on my son’s question, very soon.
