Valentine’s Day

“Let me help you,” my husband gently speaks to me when I’m overwhelmed. My youngest son starts the laundry and makes dinner. My oldest son climbs on the roof to help with a project. Through all of the I love you; I hear it loudest in the actions that my loved ones make. It is always good to hear it. Although to see it in action, those are the moments where my heart is especially filled with joy. Now my love for my husband and my sons is so large, I can’t even fully express it. I hope my actions, make them feel it. As I sit here writing on love, in its various forms, I pause. For how many times have we told God that we loved Him, but not lived it out in action? For just as we love to feel loved and show it, God shows it daily, are we showing it back to Him? I think of Valentines Day today. I think about my loved ones and how this day is just an added reminder of how special love is. Though we must express love every day. By the way we live it out. Are we showing love to our loved ones every day, so much so where they can truly feel it? Are we especially loving God through not just our words, but our actions, daily? Friend, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day today, may we celebrate love, every day. Love for people, and especially love for God.

1 John 3:18 NIV

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Matthew 22:37-39 NIV

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
