Years ago, when I was a teenager, I worked at a thrift store. We would often get donations of all sorts. Most people just dropped the donations off and left. Although I remember there being one particular individual, that demanded a break down receipt of everything he donated to claim it on his taxes. Not only was this a lot more work, more than that, it was wrong. We should never give to expect something in return. When we give, we should simply because it is the right thing to do. Not to turn around and profit off of it. For helping another is the reward. I also have saw countless videos of people showing off their generosity. Although it’s always good to give and encourage others, we must remember to not make it a show. I have also witnessed people bragging about what they did, for attention or self-righteousness. True generosity is an act of giving for others rewards, not our own. Just as God so generously and lovingly gives to us, daily. May we do the same for each other.

Matthew 6:3-4 NIV
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
