A man sat down in my chair today at my salon. You could tell he’d been through a lot. Though he looked a little disheveled, his heart was of a humbled man, grateful for second chances. As we talked, I discovered that he had recently been homeless for quite some time. I didn’t ask questions, but I knew he was grateful for a new start. It had been some time since he was able to simply have his hair washed, to have a nice haircut. He was so grateful for some of the very things, I don’t think twice about. It was humbling. I didn’t just see a man that clearly has been through a lot, I began to see a man trying to better himself. In my chair he talked about how God is good. I knew that it was God helping him in this new journey that he was on. A few times I looked at him, I could see that he was holding back the tears. That shampoo, the haircut it was so much more than that, it was new beginnings. He proudly paid for his haircut and shampoo and even tipped well. With God beside him, this was the blessing of starting fresh. The experience a reminder of God’s unfailing love. I don’t know what brought that man to his situation, that’s not my place. What I do know is he was excited to begin anew. For God is always ready and willing to help us start fresh. I don’t know if I will see him again, but I’m praying for him. I’m rooting for him. More importantly, God is. Friend, it’s not too late to do better, to be better. May we always invite God on this journey and always remember that He is God of second chances.

Micah 7:18 NIV
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
