Today while working, a man came in with his caregiver to the salon where I work, to get his haircut. He was a grown man, but with a mental disability of some sort. He was a bit like a child, stuck in a grown man’s body. There was this sweet innocence to him. I could tell that haircuts were a little overwhelming for him. For at times, he would get a little scared and would need reassurance. At times, he would even reach out for his caregiver’s hand. Then, he reached out wanting to grab mine. So, I held his hand for a moment. I could tell that he felt comforted. I too have needed this comfort at times. For there really is something to be said about comforting one another. I believe that God intended for us to need each other at times; to be there for one another. To offer a hand of care. For just as God so lovingly cares for us, we must do the same for each other.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
