My husband and I were recently watching a shipwreck documentary. A very sad one at that. Something that in today’s world, this particular event would have been avoided. For long before the age of advanced technology and easier communications is when this event occurred. Being that sonar did not exist and ways of communication, like now didn’t exist, the lack of being able to navigate better and communicate easier made avoiding such a disaster very difficult. To sum it up, there were two ships that were caught in a very foggy situation that eventually resulted in a collision. They could not see the other one fully to know where they were at and they had no other means to know so. This lack of sight and communication resulted in many fatalities and much distress. This reminded me of how fortunate we are to be able to have access to great technology that enables us to properly navigate and communicate; to hopefully avoid such a horrible repeat disaster. However, it also got me thinking about the importance of being able to really see each other and fully communicate when things are difficult. For just as these two boats ran into a difficult and sad situation for not being able to; we too find ourselves having things harder when we do not properly communicate. Friend, communication is so important, whether in a ships distress or just through the hard times of life. God has given us a voice and we need to use it to work through things and sometimes just to encourage. Most importantly, we need to communicate with God. For He can best help us navigate this life. He also has a way of giving us hope and keeping our hearts encouraged! We do not need expensive sonar or technology to communicate either. We just need to lovingly talk through things with one another, and especially God. For life is always better when we are working things out amongst each other and most importantly, keeping in constant communication with God.
