There are times where it is hard to hold our words back, when we know someone is being foolish. It is all too easy to argue with people that do things that go against God’s word. However, unfortunately, there are those that do not see God’s word for what it is; truth. Though we can lovingly share and defend God’s truth, arguing with fools will get us nowhere. Sometimes it is even best to remain silent, walk away and just pray for them and the situation. For if we approach a fool with arguments, the rebuttal will be anger. People cannot listen to truth, if truth is said through arguments. Recently, an individual said a remark that was putting down God and His existence. I so wanted to say something. I could feel myself going into defensive mode. How dare they say such things about God! I felt like Peter from the Bible; so quickly wanting to defend God. Although, like Peter had to be reminded, that anger will not solve anything. That God can handle things and is just to do as He knows is best. We must learn to handle things with grace and pray for them. Even when it is hard. This is still something that I too am working on. Friend, may we pause and pray before dealing with foolish people. May we ask ourselves, should I lovingly correct them or is best to remain silent? May we not become the fool in our own anger or frustrations. For Jesus Himself knew how to talk to those in which were behaving foolishly. He also knew that when they wouldn’t listen, when to walk away. We must wisely do the same.
