Something that I always say to my children, is to always let their conscience be their guide. Sometimes in life we are not sure what to do, what to think, say, or what we should believe. I always tell them to listen to that still small voice. For I believe that the Holy Spirit has a way of guiding us on what decisions that we should make. We have also told our children that they should listen to a balance of their heart and their mind. Though if they had to choose between the two, to listen to their mind. For the heart is ruled by emotions and can fluctuate. Though the mind, if we feed it well with His word and with wisdom and we listen to that still small voice; will guide us best. May we balance our heart and our mind; but when we don’t know what to do, listen to His voice, read His word, and use the wisdom in our minds that He has given us. For hearts can be fickle, emotions can at times make us react wrongly. Though the mind that God gives us, is a gift; one in which we must use. In a society where many are ruled by emotion and feelings, may we not forget to use the wisdom in our minds in which God has so generously given. May we also encourage each other to, when our emotions are big and our feelings feel consuming. I will admit, I too, have to remind myself to not solely be ruled by my heart. For it truly is a balance. Though no matter what it is that we are dealing with, we must go to God and let Him guide us with our minds. For though the heart is a beautiful thing and very important to use, it can only be used best when it led by the wisdom He gives us in our minds.
