Slow down with what’s most important

There will always be things to do on our to-do-list; laundry to fold, dishes to do, dusting, cleaning, organizing to be done. What we as humans do not do enough is just take a minute to breathe and enjoy the moment in which we are in. We are always in a hurry, stressing about the next thing. Society tells us to stay busy, sometimes what we need is to just slow down. Enjoy our family, enjoy friends and loved ones. Most importantly, just spend time with God. Friend, I am guilty of allowing myself to get caught up in my tasks. Just the other day my husband came home from work happy to see me and because I was in the middle of a project, I gave him a rushed kiss and continued on. Once I slowed down, I realized I should have taken some time to just enjoy his arriving home. To fully have embraced him. I could’ve finished my project later. In fact, he would have helped me with it. There have also been times where I had to remind myself that dishes can wait and to just enjoy a movie with the family. There have also been days when my time with God feels rushed. May we remember to slow down sometimes and just be in the moments that really matter, with those we love most. May we take a breath my friend and savor all the special moments that God has given us. The mundane chores can wait. However, our loved ones and most of all, God, shouldn’t have to.

Luke 10:38-42 NIV

At the Home of Martha and Mary

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
