God’s creatures

Recently I visited a petting zoo. I had a bit of a stressful morning. I hadn’t been there long before I had seen some goats. I kneeled down to pet one and it decided to hop onto my lap and cuddle, so to speak. Another one tried to do the same thing. My stress melted away and what came out of me was laughter and joy. It’s almost as if God used those goats to help lift my spirits.

I love animals and critters of the like. In fact, we have five pets at home. We have two cats, a dog, a hamster and a fish. My husband, in his wisdom, informed me that’s enough pets. Although I seem to think all the birds outside our house are mine too. All jokes aside, there’s a reason why I love animals and critters. For I believe they serve such a beautiful purpose. Some are meant to be wild and free. While the domesticated ones especially, have a way of bringing humans comfort and joy. Whenever I am unwell my animals always seem to know. They are extra affectionate and comforting. Not to mention they bring joy and extra love into our home. I believe that animals and critters are blessings from God. Meant to give us comfort, joy and especially love.

Friend, I realize not everyone loves animals as much as myself. Although, I think most people can agree they have a calming, joyful and loving presence about them. That is the reason I believe that they are blessings from God. May we be kind to all God’s creatures and be grateful to God for the blessing of them.

The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.
