I remember when I was a teenager being disrespectful and back-talking. Though this never got me anywhere, as a mother I can now see how much that must have broken my mom’s heart. Of course, it has been many years since then and my perception has changed. I now see wisdom in my mother’s discipline. Though despite my best efforts in trying to push my mom away in my defiance, she did not back down in her love for me. She continued to pursue me in love and discipline. With the hopes that I would gain wisdom sooner, than later. I am sure that there were prayers often said. As a mother now myself, no matter how great of kids that we have, I have come to realize; even the best need discipline at times. Sometimes we all need a little extra instruction. Though we always need prayer navigating and growing through life. For we love our children even when they test our patience or make a poor decision. We continue to pursue them and help them navigate back in the right direction, pointing them toward their faith and the right path. Loving them all the while.
I can just picture God and His love for us, as His children. That even in our sinful disobedience or in our rebellion; He continues to pursue us. Always ready, able, and willing to help us get back on the right path. That even as we hurt God’s heart with the choices that we sometimes make, He is always eager to forgive; if we so ask. He is always eager to help us navigate this life and so we can be with Him someday in Heaven. His love ever so strong toward us, unconditional and unwavering. A love even deeper than a mother’s love. Wow, I cannot even fathom that.
Like a mother, who continues to pursue Her child, even in their rebellion; God is always pursuing us, ready to love and guide us back to Him. Friend, may we remember that we are loved beyond measure. A perfect love, one in which is unconditional and always eager to give us wisdom and guidance in directing us back to Him. May we pursue Him, with that same love, that He so lovingly gives. For how blessed we are to be given such an infallible and perfect love.
