My oldest sons team played a good game of baseball today. They didn’t win, but in my opinion, they didn’t lose either. For they played better than in their last game and I loved seeing their growth as players. There may be times where we may feel as though we are not winning in life. However, if every day we’re growing in our faith and growing into the people that God has in mind; that is a victory! Like some good games of baseball; sometimes we win, and sometimes we may lose. Although if we’re doing our best every day and we’re learning and growing; there is a special type of win in that.
May we remember to Keep swinging, even if we strike out. For even if we miss the ball, we learn. May we Keep running the bases, even if we get an out. For we gave it our all and that’s pretty great. Most importantly, if we keep growing and learning, even when it feels like we are not winning; we will eventually get to home base. When we do make it home, what a great victory that will be!

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
