What makes a winner? I recently watched a video clip of a young woman in a race. She was struggling to make it to the finish line. Many times, almost falling. Another young woman was doing well and could have chosen to take a better place in the race. Though she did something that few do. She not only noticed this other young woman struggling, but she took the time to offer empathy. She helped the other woman stay lifted on her feet and proceeded to help her finish the race. Now this woman maybe did not take home a first-place trophy, but as far as I’m concerned; she’s a winner. To win does not always mean first place, it means you finished the race. You completed it to the best of your ability and when you choose to help someone along the way; there is tremendous victory in that.
God calls us to help one another. That if we see someone in need we must reach out and lovingly help them. Just as when we’re running in the race that is life, just as we sometimes struggle and God is there for us; we must be there for each other too. Lifting each other up, helping one another through that finish line.
Friend, helping each other and not leaving each other behind is what we all have been called to do. Like the woman who was about to finish first, but stopped to help another and finished last; that is what it means to win. Winners are those that live as God has called. The ones that truly finish in last place, are those which refuse to help another human being.

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Acts 20:35
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Proverbs 14:21
It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.
