I was humbled the other day. I got a little grouchy and was a little rude to someone. My kids were disappointed in me. Especially as that is not my normal character and they know I taught them better than that. We talked about it and I agreed, I was a little rude. They encouraged me to make it right. I knew that I was in the wrong. I walked back to this person and I apologized. The individual was kind and full of grace. I am grateful for that. Though I try to always be kind, I am not perfect. Though this was a great reminder that I still need to always be striving to be my best and be kind, even in frustration. I am also very proud of my children for calling me out.
Apologies can be hard. An apology is an act that requires us to set aside pride and do the next best thing. Though through it we can recognize our mistakes and grow from it; learning to do better in our future. I was humbled my friend. Though sometimes as humans we need to be. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. It got me thinking about sin in general. When we mess up, we need to confess our sins to God. For God is always full of grace and willing to forgive us. By doing so, we are recognizing our need to continue growing into the people that God had in mind.
May we remember to place humility, where pride could be. To admit our mistakes and try to learn from them and make it right. Most importantly, may we go to God and ask for His forgiveness and His help to make us better. For though we are all human and imperfect, it is through humility where we can grow and be the people that God has called us to be.
It took my children that day to remind me, to keep it humble. To admit my mistake and make it right. May we all remember this, as we navigate this life.
