Christ-like character

I have met many characters in my life. All sorts of different personalities, walks of life, cultures. My favorite people have always been the real ones. The ones that are authentic and you know where they stand as people. The ones that are unapologetically kind and that show love to others. The ones that truly love God and show it in their actions. I have met some Christians, that are not Christ-like. I have met those who have yet to walk with God, but are kind. I have met those that have such a love for God, that it is beyond evident. I have stood among those that care little for anyone but themselves. I have met some that only care about a certain class or group of people; and count everyone else out or less than. I have met really incredibly good people in my life. I have also met those in which are unkind, in one way or another. I have met those with beautiful hearts and those that really need God to work on theirs. We all have different personalities, and we may not all mesh together to create special friendships. That is totally okay. What is not okay, is being unkind. Just because someone may not mesh with us as well, does not mean that we are better. It means that we are different. Friend, God made us all unique and special, all for His glory.  Even though we are all different, let us all be the people that God wants us to be. Christ-like, despite our differences. Even if the other persons character is unkind. Maybe through our kind character they can see God through us and it is amazing how God can use us in that way. There are many characters in this life; may we remember to have our characters be reflective of God’s love and grace. For God loves us all, may we love each other too. We will not all be close friends, but we must closely walk with God; with kindness and love for one another.

Zechariah 7:9-10 NIV

“This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’

Colossians 3:12 NIV

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
