If I could follow God, like my dog follows me
I would shadow all His moves and more like him I’d be
I would listen when He calls, go where He does lead
Knowing His instructions, gives me what I need
I’d trust there to be no hunger, for always I am fed
And I wouldn’t thirst, for I’d know what he has said
That I would never thirst, with Him I would not lack
He’d always care for me, and always have my back
If I could follow God like my dog, with loyalty so pure
I would love my master, with a love that is so sure
I would trust and obey, I would honor His name
I would defend Him, only for His gain
I would love Him
With everything I am
If I could follow God, like my dog follows me
I would better live my life for Him, this I can surely see
Though I am not a dog and happy that I am not
The way I watch how my dog follows, has taught me a lot
To listen when I am called, to go where He does lead
Knowing that my Master will give me what I need
He will care and love, I must just trust and obey
Follow His voice and all His word does say
For He gives me what I lack
He is the strength upon my back
I must praise and follow His Holy Name
For in His love, there I gain
Everything I need, for I cannot truly compare
For His love that always meets me here
though I am not a dog or ever wish to be
I can see things better, in this analogy
That I must always go where my God does lead
For He is my Savior, and is exactly what I need
