Be kind to ourself

Have you ever made a mistake, and put yourself down; whether having said something unkind to yourself out loud or had negative self-talk? I feel like as humans we sometimes struggle with either being too prideful and not admitting our mistakes or we put ourselves down; instead of just acknowledging our mistake and learning from it. I will admit I have done both at different times in my life. I am however frequently hard on myself. Though I am trying to be better about how I talk to myself. We make it a point to talk kind to others and show them grace. However, we sometimes struggle to give ourselves that same level of kindness. Friend, it is so important that we watch how we talk to ourselves. If we would not say something bad to someone else, we should withhold that talk from ourselves too. It is important that we admit our mistakes and learn. It is also important that we speak kindly to ourselves, just as we do others. God did not ask us to criticize ourselves, but to learn and hold ourselves accountable. The next time we make a mistake, may we be careful on the way we respond not just to others, but ourselves too. We hear what we tell ourselves; may they be words to make us grow and be better, not words that tear our own selves down. As we encourage one another and love, may we also speak lovingly to ourselves.
