He took the place, nails pierced in His hands
So much pain He endured, pain not known to man
For not ever there was or will ever be such a sacrifice given
All so that we could live and our sins could be forgiven
We committed the crime, He took our shame
Yet, many do not thank Him or praise His holy name
He died so that we could live with Him above
He paid a price, so deeply is His love
A sinner He was not, though died as though He were
His love, His sacrifice, our ultimate cure
We did not deserve it, there was nothing we did right
Yet He died, so we could be innocent in God’s sight
So, we could have our slate wiped clean and we would be set free
He asks us daily, “Come, follow me”
He died, so that we can truly live
Though we must love him, our hearts to Him give
For he bore the cross on calvary, for me and for you
We must live our lives for Him, as He makes our hearts renewed
They took off the cross, His body tattered and abused
His life was broken, so He could be used
For our burdens He took that day
As they placed Him in a tomb, where they thought He’d stay
Though no man can stop, what God had in mind
When they rolled the stone away, Him they did not find
For His work was truly finished, He did what He was sent to do
To save us all, both me and you
He rose again, but He will back someday
A time, not too far away
Do we choose to come, and follow Him
I promise He will come back again
For He died on that cross, nails pierced in His hand
He rose to save, woman and man
Today I am reminded the story of His love and sacrifice
For He paid the ultimate price
We had no hope, but for us, He died and rose again
To save us from our wretched sin
So may we not forget to give thanks and pray
For what He did on Resurrection Day

Resurrection Day
Luke 24:6-7 NIV
He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’”
John 11:25-26 NIV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Matthew 16:24-26 NIV
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
