Go to God in prayer

My youngest son recently had a concern. I offered a couple of suggestions that may help, to which he politely replied no. I then asked him what he would like for me to do to help him, to which he wisely replied; “can you pray with me?” This was such a wise idea! My heart was so happy that it came from him. He then took my hand and we prayed together. For his first reaction to his best solution, was to go to God in prayer. For my son knew that the best solution to any problem, is God.

Friend, sometimes we get so caught up in our problems, that our first response is to think of our own ways of solving it. Instead of remembering to go to God in prayer. Trusting that He can help us work it out and solve whatever it is that we may need. My son had reminded me, that instead of letting his concerns consume him or self-sufficiency to take over; to just go to God in prayer. I pray that both my children will remember to place prayer, where worry could be. Also, that they will be bold enough to reach out and to ask others to pray with them! May we all remember to do this.

My son politely thanked me for praying with him and then he walked off; looking much more at ease and filled with peace. He really did have the best idea on how to address his concern. I’m grateful that I got to see his idea, be put into action. It was a reminder for me and a reassurance to him; that the best solution is always God.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
