Through many years in my life, I have put more emphasis on whom I was on the outside and not enough on the in. I cared about looking a certain way and could not even leave the house confidently, if I did not look exactly up to par. These days I put more emphasis on who I am on the inside and less on how I look on the out. I still like to look nice of course, but I do not find my worth in my appearance. I find it in my behavior, my character and in my faith. Do I always look as put together as I used to? No. These days I’m practicing humility and who I am as a woman. Do I believe you can look nice and have a good character? Of course! But so often as a society, we put more effort on how we are perceived physically to the world; then how God perceives our character. Maybe we should spend a little less time on self-appearance and more time on self-awareness. Are we spending less time on our looks and more time on the things that matter; God, loved ones, others?
Friend, I am not saying not to care about how we look. I am saying we need to all take more time into building our character and being the people that God has designed us to be. For looks do not get us into Heaven. Having a relationship with God does. Loving God and loving people. Something we must humbly ask ourselves; where do we spend most of our time? Vanity or faith?

1 Samuel 16:7 NIV
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Proverbs 31:30 NIV
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
1 Peter 3:3-4
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
1 Timothy 4:8 NIV
For physical training is some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
Psalm 139:14 NIV
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
