Every evening during devotionals as a family, we say at least one blessing that we had for that day. I will admit amidst the stress, sometimes we need to find the beauty in the mess. We can typically come up with one, if not many things to be grateful for. Though I must admit sometimes in our frustrations or our hurt; we have to train our brain to see the big picture and find the blessing. Sometimes it is in something such as being grateful for our food. Other times, it is more specific and something extra special. Although we try to think of things different than the obvious; we really try to be in the habit of finding our good. Not only do my husband and I want to stay focused on the ways in which we are blessed; we want our children to also. For as they get older, like even now at times, they will go through things as we all do. We want them to have the skill, of finding the blessing in their every day.
It is so easy to be caught up in the emotion or the situation, that we forget to see God’s love and devotion to us. It is easy to stay in a negative mindset, but when we can train our brains to find the beauty in the dirt; we can better see the flowers that bloom through it.
Friend, it is not always easy to find our blessings when things are tough. Or sometimes maybe we can, but our situation can sometimes consume us or override our good. Though it is ok to grapple with whatever we are going through; I pray that we can still find the blessing that God provides. May we all take the time daily to focus on at least one thing with a grateful heart, that God has given us.
Life is not always easy or perfect; but we are perfectly loved by God. May we remember this, always. May we find our blessings in Him. For a heart that can find their good in God daily; is a heart that can better see his love in their day to day. That my friend, is a blessing.
