Learning from our mistakes

My youngest son helped me make dinner this evening. He had made a mistake with how something had to be prepared. Nothing that was a big deal. He walked away feeling defeated though. I talked to him letting him know that it is ok that he made a mistake, as he was learning. He was disappointed that his mistake made some of the food have to be thrown out. I told him that it was not a big deal, I had to learn the same thing once.

Friend, we all make mistakes at times. Whether it be something like a recipe or something much bigger. It is so important that we learn from them and do not let is deter us from trying again. Next time I prepare this meal, I am looking forward to his help; as I know that he learned what to do for next time and he will do great!

Life is not always about being perfect, it is about always trying to do and be our best. Be the people that God has called us to be. However, we are not perfect and will make mistakes at times. Through our imperfections, may be remember His perfect love. The one that encourages us when we fail to try again and teaches us to grow through what we have learned. For if we cannot always get it right, may we always be learning and when we are learning, grow and be the best that we can be. Growing in wisdom as we navigate life.

Philippians 3:13-14 NIV

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
