My husband and I spent the day yesterday snuggled up in blankets, spending time with God, watching a fun show and simply resting. We did not leave the house and we did not make ourselves adhere to any specific agenda. We simply were just living in the moment and enjoying each other’s company. It was restful, relaxing, and just what we needed.
Friend, it is so important that we make sure we are taking the time to rest and to simply just be. I know that many have busy lifestyles and responsibilities. However, we need to make relaxation a part of our responsibility. It is so important that we give our bodies rest. My husband and I have established Saturdays as our day of rest together. It allows us time to just breathe, spend time together with God and each other, and allow our minds and bodies to just slow down and rest.
Many will say that they have not the time to rest; I think we just need to be better about making the time. For a body that never stops, becomes worn and then will be forced to. A mind that is not allowed for rest, is an exhausted mind not performing its best. When we do not make sure to take the time to rest with God, our spiritual selves begin to suffer.
For when we take the time to relax, it is there we find renewal for our bodies, rest for our minds, and peace for our souls. In turn, allowing us to fully be the people that God has created us to be.
