Twas the party for Christmas, as I worked in my house
Cooking and cleaning in my favorite red blouse
Dinner was waiting now cooked with love and care
I must set the table, family soon will be here
My children running with glee all around
As they laughed and they giggled, what a beautiful sound
I stopped to looked at the food, I had made
Grateful for provisions that He had gave
When outside my door I heard quite the chatter
I peeked out my window to see what was the matter
One by one, my family they were out there
I opened the door, saying come on in here
The winter chill nipped, from the cold bitter snow
Yet somehow beauty was what it did show
When what to my ears, should I hear
Presents, presents everywhere
Its all about gifts, under that tree, I heard someone say
I felt some excitement, start to go away
More rapid than eagles, presents were tossed
Somewhere in the greed, the point got lost
This present, that present, this one must be mine
I started to realize that we are Christmas blind
All the wanting, all its, all about me
Only thinking of the presents under that tree
Dinner had been served, bellies were full to the brim
In all the wants, did we forget about Him?
As the family gathered to say their goodbyes
Something in me felt empty, so I began to cry
In just that moment I heard a familiar voice
In the distance was a child, who remembered to rejoice
He stood up tall, louder he then began to sing
That Christmas is not, all about things
This boy stood up proud and tall
Standing above the rest, though quite little and quite small
It seemed that his true joy tuned out the rest
As he sang of all the ways he was blessed
His eyes were merry as he sang an old familiar tune
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, echoed through the room
The Savior is born, the greatest gift received
I realized this was just, what we did need
The praises he sang, about our Lord and Savior
How on this birthday, he was born in a manger
The joy of his music, reminded me what I forgot
That its not about the wants, the gifts, no its not
Beside the boy I began to sing along
The meaning of Christmas, reminded in a song
A wink of the boy’s eye, as I then turned my head
I felt sudden peace, no more Christmas dread
The boy continued to sing Jesus’ Birthday songs
Before I knew it, all were singing along
Then the boys’ hands slowly came together to pray
On bended knee, I heard him say
Lord, we thank you, for sending your son to be born on this day
So someday He would die, to take our sins away
I took the boys’ hand, as family left and drove out of sight
Happy Christmas Mama he said, and to all a goodnight
