Out of Eden

In the garden where sin first began, now I clearly see

Sin started by disobedience and no accountability

How quickly we place blame on others, or blame God with His plan

When we go against God, we lose, both woman and man

We disobey His instruction and wonder why things go the way they do

It started in the garden and still is nothing new

We all make mistakes, though only some confess their shame

Instead of learning lessons, in its place is blame

Many times, I have had to admit the folly of my sin

For I don’t ever get ahead, when I don’t obey Him

Like Eve in the garden, giving into sweet deceit

We pridefully follow things, His way we try to cheat

Like Adam so easily tempted by the desires of his heart

Instead of using wisdom, to guide him where to start

In the garden, where once it all began

Disobedience and accountability, ruined God’s plan

Though His grace is sufficient when we truly go to Him

We still have a choice, to love and follow or to choose sin

In the garden, where we can no longer be

We still have hope for our eternity

For here on Earth is now ruled by sin

Though someday, we will get to begin again

Where will you stand when that last day is here

There is only one way, this is clear

Choose to obey God and confess my shame

For when the end is here, I want Him to know my name

Out of Eden

Psalm 32:5 NIV

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Matthew 12:36 NIV

But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgement for every empty word they have spoken.

Colossians 3:1 NIV

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
