It was the middle of the night and I was awoken by the sound of my cat meowing, as though practicing for a choir concert. I sprang from my bed after a few minutes of her late-night shenanigans. Upon checking on her, she was delighted for the attention and completely fine. Though I was up now and realized I had to use the restroom. Then I realized I was thirsty. Then my dog had to use the restroom and then she wanted a treat, as though simply going, warrants one. But then I realized I too wanted a snack, as I was apparently a little hungry. It reminded me of the children’s story, “If you give a mouse a cookie.” In case you are unfamiliar with the book; it’s about a boy that gives a mouse a cookie, only to find out then that the mouse needs something to drink, and so on. Basically, how one thing, sometimes leads down to another. Though none of what was just written is bad by any means; it got me thinking about sin. That one bad choice unchecked, can easily lead to another. It’s easy to lose grasp and get caught up, if we’re not careful. Friend, sin is sneaky. We all do it, as none of us are perfect people. Although, if we are not careful; sin has a way of trying to sneak into our lives like a thief in the night and wreaking havoc. Friend, we must be careful with the choices that we make. For choices have consequences. May we be vigilant with all matters of the decisions we make in life. For a heart guarded with God’s grace, protection, wisdom and love; finds a safety net against darkness’ schemes.
