Loving Others

What a smile can do, when given so free

To someone known, or a stranger that we see

What a door held open can mean to everyone we meet

Or the gift of offering up our seat

The sweetness of a hello or how are you

Takes but a moment, but it echoes through

A firm handshake, to know we’re true and kind

For courtesy can be hard to find

In a world that puts emphasis on selfishness

May we offer some kindness

For it has a way of spreading far and wide

When we give love, that comes from inside

Just as it is written may we offer so much love

Like the grace so freely given, from up above

Colossians 3:12 NIV

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

Love is patient, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Galatians 5:22 NIV

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
