Love them well

He followed me to the door in his electronic chair as I said I love you and goodbye. He smiled as I headed out and I told him I would come to see him again soon. Unfortunately, my grandpa passed before I ever made it back. That moment is etched in my heart forever. Although I know I will indeed see him again someday. Yet, for the here and now all that remains is the memories in which we shared together. It has been some years since his passing, yet I still think of him often. When I was young, I was constantly told of times fleetingness. This only made more sense as I aged myself. Those in which I have held dear to me over my years of life, are starting to slow down as aging is starting to show. My own children are not so little anymore themselves. I can no longer lift my youngest and my oldest stands taller than myself. For time is like an hourglass that changes as the sand moves with the minutes. Friend, time does not stand still; nothing can change that. All we have is the time in which God gives us. People are gifts in our lives. Every moment as we age, we are gifted with the presence of loved ones. May we appreciate them as God intended. As He so instructs, so we can fully embrace the gift of them now and more importantly, the gift of them in eternity. Though I did not make it back to see my grandpa before he passed, I left him with an I love you. I cannot wait to say hello again to him and as many loved ones as possible, at the family reunion in the sky. For they are all blessings and time will indubitably go faster than what we first realized. Love people and love them well.

James 4:14 NIV

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
