I remember as a kid going to a huge cookout with my family. The host of this big event had stated that the kids can just have hotdogs and the adults would get served steak. I think most people would agree a steak is much tastier, than even the best hotdog. I remember my mom saying to us, that unless we prefer the hotdog, we can eat the steak. She said that herself and my dad would eat our hotdogs and we could eat their steaks. She told me she believed her children should be eating better than herself. That was a sacrifice, as I know my mom does not care for hotdogs and we all love steak. Now being served any food is a blessing. However, this is not about what was being served, but that my mom and dad were choosing to serve my brother and I above themselves. It was an act of selflessness and love. I do not remember much details of the event, but I do remember the act of selflessness. Friends, every day we should be more focused on serving each other, than on what pleases ourselves. For that kind of sacrifice and selflessness is a beautiful example of what Jesus did for us up on that cross. What God does every single day for us with His blessings. Friend, may we serve each other kindly, compassionately and with love. For a heart that serves above themselves, is mirroring the kind of love in which God our Father, has for us, His children.

Matthew 20:26-28 NIV
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be great among you, must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave-just as the Son of Man, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
