The other night my husband got an unexpected text. It was from our oldest son who was not with us at the moment and was with a friend. My son had gotten into a disagreement with this friend whom was challenging his morals. My son stood his ground and stated what he knew to be true. He sought out advice from my husband on an important and biblical question. Though my son could not quote the exact scripture, he knew the scripture would back up his beliefs. This is when he asked my husband about a specific scripture. Which my husband very quickly helped him find. Friend, it is so important that we teach our children about morals, the Bible and His word. Nurturing their faith and helping them to stand firm when worldly pressures try to manipulate their principles. We live in a world that is very misguided and plagued by sin. It is so important that we equip our children, no matter how young or how old; on how to stand firm in their faith and all that it involves. That they can feel at ease coming to us when they are being challenged. More importantly, that as they grow, they can stand firm and confident in their convictions, on their own. It was an unexpected text, that left our hearts happy knowing he did not give into the pressure of a misguided youth. That he went as far as to defend his faith and even educate the other child on where to find it in the Bible. I pray that this child will see the truth. Maybe my son just planted a seed. However, it is so important that we do not underestimate the difference a child can make in the lives of others, in this lost world. Friend, we must keep bringing our children up in the Lord. Keep praying for them and their friends. They are going to need it; in the direction this world is headed. Now more than ever. We were proud of our son for standing steadfast in his principles. For boldly proclaiming truth and reaching out for further wisdom. For in this world, darkness will come at times and try to trip us up on the path to God. Having the foundation of our faith and the wisdom of His word, is like a light within us. Guiding us on how to stay on the path of true life. I am grateful as I watch my children shine their light. May we all continue to nurture our children’s faith, so as this world becomes darker; they can continue to shine His light in it.
