God at the center

My husband and I celebrate our Anniversary today. I feel very blessed to be married to him. One thing that let me know that he was the one, was by his love for God. Incidentally, that was one thing that he loved about me too. We keep God at the center of our marriage and as number one in our lives. I can truly say I respect my husband and that he too, shows me respect. Though our marriage is not perfect, it is truly beautiful. We build our marriage around our faith and because of that, is why our marriage is so strong. We read devotionals and our Bible every night before bed. We pray together too, which is so important. We attend church together and encourage one another in all avenues of our life. We talk things out, even if we need a minute. This world is misguided on what a healthy marriage is. It is not selfish, it is not dishonest, it is not what you can gain from the other person; it is mutual love and adoration, it is honesty about everything and anything, it is about what you can create together. When we got married, we truly became joined as one. If we are against each other, we are against ourselves. Friend, if you are looking to become married or already are; I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping God number one in your marriage. It will not always be perfect, but a marriage built around faith, can stand firm and strong when things are not always easy. For a marriage built with God at the center, is a marriage built to last.

Genesis 2:24 NIV

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Mark 10:9 NIV

Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

1 Corinthians 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
