God as our coach

My husband and I brought our boys to the local baseball field. Though we especially went there for my oldest to get some practice swings in, before his baseball season starts; we all practiced hitting the ball for fun.  We all took time standing at home plate, hitting every ball that we could. Some pitches came in right to our bat and we were able to swing and hit the ball. Some pitches were bad and there was nothing to hit. For those times when we could swing and hit the ball though; it made every missed ball worth it. Like life; sometimes we stand at home plate and wait for that perfect pitch. Sometimes it takes time to get it. Other times our timing is bad and we swing and we miss. Usually either the pitcher or the batter learns something in the process. Though when we do get that perfect pitch, that perfect swing or that home run; it makes all the strike outs seem worth it. Friend, God never said things would be easy. He said he would be there with us in our journey; helping us to get through it. Sometimes were going to drop the ball, give a bad pitch, swing too soon or too late, get a fowl ball. Through it all, God will be with us coaching us along. Sometimes we will hit it out of the park and other times, we will just give it a good long run. But if we keep God with us as our coach, on that last game; we will have the ultimate home run. Friend, when your up to the plate of life to bat, listen to His instruction and just swing when the right ball comes.
