Wise Instruction

“I know what to do.” My youngest assured me with these five words the other morning. I was talking him through a task that he needed to do at school. My maternal instinct was to guide and protect him. In that process, I forgot that he is growing and in that, proving every day, just how capable he is. Though I still need to guide and protect; I also need to let him show what he has learned. God, being our Father, equips us with His words to guide us and protect us, as He cares for us with His provisions of grace. Yet, He also allows us as we grow in our faith, to be capable. My youngest was confident in what he was taught, he knew what to do. For he was following instruction and things that he had learned. Friend, when we put our confidence in the instruction God provides and our lessons that we have learned; we too, stand more confident in our faith. Though my son will need me for different reasons, no matter how old he gets; he still must be given the opportunity to be the man God created him to be. That means letting him soar in those moments of, “I know what to do.” Friend, as we go out into our world, know that relying on God is crucial; however, we must also know when to soar. God equips us, for wherever He calls us. For a heart that listens to good instruction, knows exactly what to do.

Proverbs 16:20-21 NKJV

He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy IS he. The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning.
