Some parents seem to really be winning in the parenting department. Like you watch what they do and you see them with a blue ribbon hanging around them and sometimes you just feel like you have a participation prize. Sometimes those same parents will wrap their day in a perfect little bow. Meanwhile, some of us are falling into our beds, just glad that our children were taken care of for the day. There will always be somebody outside of us, that seems to be the ‘golden’ parent. They have it more together and they just seem to be getting an A+ in parenting. We almost put them on a pedestal. Leaving ourselves feeling defeated or like we just are not quite measuring up. Though we love to see great parenting, we must not compare ourselves. Sometimes things are not as perfect as they seem. Even the best of families, have their issues. We are human and flawed by our own sin. That same parent could be looking at us and thinking maybe we are the ones winning. There is no such thing as a perfect parent. Friend, God gives us our children, knowing we are meant to parent them. Not your neighbor, not that person you seen on that video, not that parent that you pass in the drop off lane at your child’s school. You, my friend. God knows you are not perfect. He just asks that we do our best, keeping Him in our daily lives and moments; helping us to navigate this passage of parenting. This blessing of parenting. We are not always going to get it right, but we are always meant to be, their parents. Look in the mirror at yourself. You are your child’s parent. You are worthy of such a privilege. You are enough, for your child. Keep loving them, keep giving parenting your all and most importantly, keep God with you through it. For there is no such thing as a perfect parent, just parents, that God so perfectly bestowed children to. Thank Him friend for such a blessing as parenting, you are doing so much better than you know. I am proud of you friend.
