Friendship

When I was a little girl, I had a very special friend. She was not like the other kids at school. She was one of a kind and I appreciated her, while I had her. We would play on the swings and walk around the play ground together. She did not have many friends. For people sometimes do not know how to take different. Though our friendship was unique, that is what made it so great. Eventually she was taken from me and sent to a special school that could better accommodate her needs. Though I am glad she would be given better resources to help her reach her fullest potential, I missed her. She was just gone one day. I can only imagine now though, all the wonderful new skills she has learned. Ones that would surely help her become her best self. She surely taught me something very important. One that would stay with me for life.  That friends are those who love you, just as you are. They can be different, for that is how we are all created. She liked me, quirky as I am and I loved her, that she was so perfect just the way God made her. Though I do not remember everything as I was young; I do remember, my friend Katie. God has a way of bringing certain people in our lives to bring us joy, friendship, and love. Teaching us to care for one another. For that is what God does for us. He meets us right where we are at. Loving us, His children, as we are. Knowing through His hands we are all created with a purpose. No one is better than another, just created differently. With a choice to be the people He truly designs us to be. With the Bible as our guide. Cherishing one another with love and kindness. For we have a God in Heaven, who is our greatest friend of all. Friendship is a blessing from God. Given to us as a source of comfort in a sometimes-cruel world. Love them while you have them and always know you have a friend in God.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
